About Us

Widineo: A Beacon of Hope for Kilifi

Widineo is a community-based organization located in Kilifi, Kenya. Our core mission is to uplift the living standards of the Kilifi community, especially widows, the elderly, the needy, and orphans.

Widineo Team

Widineo stands for Widows, Needy, and Orphans. Our main goal is to fight poverty and eradicate illiteracy by empowering vulnerable groups through targeted programs. Kilifi is one of the poorest counties in Kenya, with the highest levels of illiteracy, as per Kenya Bureau of Statistics. Widineo addresses the neglect of widows, the targeting of the elderly, and the increasing school dropouts and early pregnancies among girls.

This movement was born out of the need to restore hope and provide a supportive platform for the less fortunate. Our mission is to nurture a self-reliant community through education, service, and holistic transformation—focusing on social impact rather than profit.

What We Do

Child Education

Empowering the girl child and vulnerable children through education support, scholarships, and mentorship programs to reduce school dropouts and early pregnancies.

Medical Treatment

Providing medical aid and health awareness programs to widows, the elderly, and vulnerable community members to improve overall well-being.

Clean Drinking Water

Facilitating access to pure and safe drinking water to vulnerable households to improve health standards and reduce waterborne diseases.

Sustainable Development

Empowering Through Agriculture & Environmental Care

At Widineo, we believe sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship are essential to ending poverty in Kilifi. Our integrated programs offer:

Agribusiness training for widows and youth
Bee farming for honey production and pollination
Climate-smart farming techniques
Tree planting and environmental conservation
Water harvesting and soil preservation

We equip community members with lifelong skills to grow food sustainably, generate income, and protect Kilifi’s natural environment for future generations.

Supporting Talent Through Sports

At Widineo, we understand the power of sports in uniting communities, building confidence, and unlocking youth potential. Through organized sporting events and support for local teams, we:

Sponsor youth football and volleyball teams
Provide sports equipment and kits to underprivileged players
Organize inter-village tournaments to foster unity
Promote sports as a tool for leadership and discipline

Our sports initiatives help keep youth engaged, healthy, and away from destructive behavior, while encouraging teamwork and self-worth across Kilifi.
